Tuesday Tuesday

we spent some time today reviewing statistics, mean, median, mode, 5 number summary, box plots and histograms. We went over our pre-tests and spent a few minutes looking at data in the library. We received a homework packet to work on throughout the week. It is due next week Monday or Tuesday. We will have some class time to work on it in class on Friday. Tomorrow we will continue with some stats and review the big formulas from the geometry and algebra 1. grades for our first few things have been added to power grade and those who received 100% on their pre-test need to give them back to me in order to receive credit for their test. 1/31/12--Day One

Welcome to Advanced Algebra!! Today we went over our classroom procedures and checked out our books. We spent a few minutes reviewing mean, median, mode, IQR, range, histograms and box plots. Vocab part 1 (mean, median, mode) Box plot notes you can print

we took the pre-test for chp two and several students received 100% so they will not be testing again. If you were one of those luck people, please be sure to save your test and return it to me.

Wednesday Exams 1 and 3....

Whew one day of exams is done!! Grades for first and third hour finals are in power school. Second hour exam is tomorrow so be sure to study tonight!! One more day!

Tuesday--1/24/12

Gotta love a two hour delay...we finalized our preparation for our exams. On Wednesday we will take our final exam in 1st and 3rd hours. In 2nd block we will be returning our books and doing a little probability project. Then we will take that exam on Thursday. No school on Friday!!! Be sure to check your review on line and text or email if you have any questions tonight..don't come in stressed tomorrow. The exam is multiple choice 38 questions. Remember you can use your thinking maps and red/white sheets--don't forget them :) See you for exams!!!!!!!

The Last Monday....:(

So last week was crazy!! Snowday on Thursday put us all out of whack...so we tested open notes on Friday and then started to look at the final exam review problems. Today we are going to finish the review during class and then spend some time going over the problems that we struggled on. So if you are not here check out the review sheet here. Answer key for the review. Exams 1 and 3 on Wednesday and 2nd on Thursday.

Tuesday--Venn Diagrams and Permutations

We looked at another graphic organizer--the Venn Diagram --notes -- as well as permutations--the picky ones where order matters--notes. We talked about how to find permutations on our calculatros and with the formula. Assignment for the day-p. 685 - 6 and 11 and p 698 2 a,b,e, 3 a and b, 4, 5a, 9 a and b. Wow! Only 2.5 weeks left in this semester... Today we took some of our toughest notes of the year. We put them into three sections one for each type. Please watch all three if you weren't here today. Friday!!!! 1/6

Wow this seemed like a long week for only being four days!! Today we continued to work on 9.7--factoring and working with rational functions. We did a quick review but had no new notes. We worked on p 547 in our books 1b, 2b, 3b, 4, 11a, and 16 and we did the worksheet attached here. All grades are up to date in power school so be sure to check and see if you are missing anything! 1/5/12 Thankful it is Thursday

I don't know about you, but I am tired this week. Must be all the extra rest I got over break!! Whew. However, we are quickly approaching the end of the semester so we must push on!! Today we did some review of the absolute value graphs, practiced our rational function graphs, did a quick check on where we are with distance formula and circles/ellipses, and took notes on 9.7--factoring with rational functions. See notes video here. Youtube factoring video for additional explanation if needed. Factoring (or at least being able to find the factors) will be integral to this unit. Wednesday already!!

Today is already Wednesday!! Can't believe tomorrow is already Thursday...so much to do. Today we started with our assignment on circles. P 503 (don't do the ones with the sin/cos etc). Then we did a review sheet with distance formula and more circles. Do the problems as marked. Finally we took notes on 9.6 graphing rational functions. Video of notes (THERE WASN'T MUCH TO WRITE DOWN WE DID MOST ON OUR CALCULATORS.) We will begin with problems on graphing tomorrow. Our test on Chp 9 will be next Wednesday (1/11) for those of you who like to plan ahead. Then just one more chapter until we are done!!
