Wednesday 9/26

So today we worked on problems based on all the notes we took yesterday...great job again on those notes.  (notes copy)  Handout 1  Handout two handout three.  Tomorrow we will keep up the practicing chapter three info in preparation for a test sometime late next week. 

Test on formulas down!!

We took our test over our formulas today and for the most part did great!!  I must say I am very impressed with everyone's memory!!  great work on learning those formulas--now we still have a little more to learn in the way of applying them...Both classes did great!!  First block had a class mean of 89.2% with a 70.5 % growth from the pre to the post test!!  and Second block had a whopping 95.4% class average with an amazing 76.2% growth from pre to post test!!  Awesome work!!  Next we take on chapter three.  Don't forget your worksheets due on Monday!! (Chap 0--ok to skip numbers 2 and 3 or do them for extra credit)

We have been very busy reviewing our formulas from Alg I and Geometry.  Each day we have looked at a different formula and today we made some posters describing each of the formulas including an example.  Tomorrow we will continue to review in advance of our formulas quiz on Thursday...if you are having problems with any of the review pleae let me know as soon as possible.  I am available after school on Wednesday if you need to stay after and do additional reivew--just let me know.  And as always feel free to text me questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Good grades = donuts on Friday!!

Today we are headed down to the media center to do some additional review of our formulas.  We had a handout on midpoint and then did problems on ixl for the remainder of the hour.  (website).  We had no additional homework assignment but still have our review packets due on Monday.  Please write down problems and answers for the work you do on IXL.  Have an awesome weekend!!

Today we looked over our tests and celebrated our success  on the stats unit!!  Both classes had over an A average!!  Great job!!  Then we did a final look at graphs and what they mean online.  Students copied 4 graphs and wrote 4 conclusions about each of them.  They could either print them to turn in or email them to me.  Tomorrow we will start the next unit on formulas.  :)

TOday we took our test over chap 2. We had great results with over a 93% mean for first block and more than 97% for second block!!  WAY TO GO!!  Tomorrow our projects are due so make sure you get yours done this evening..  See last week Thursday's post for handout and example for the project.  Tomorrow we will finish up our stats unit and Thursday we will be moving onto a formulas review unit!!  Again great job on your tests today!!!

9/10/12

We made some really good progress today in preparation for our statistics test tomorrow (Tuesday).  It should be an easy one because we have really mastered the skills assigned to us!!  Our test will cover mean, median, mode, range, iqr, 5 number summary, histograms and box plots.  All good stuff.  After our test we will have time for teams to finish their projects for Wednesday if they need to or finish their pre tests if needed.  Stat projects are due on Wednesday.  We did not have a new assignment today--just review for your test tomorrow :)

We spent more time today working with the mean, mode, 5 number summary, box plots, and histograms.  We also learned about range--the difference between the max and min values (max-min) and the IQR--Interquartile range--difference between Q3 and Q1 (Q3-Q1).  We did several examples including one about hte food at McDonalds--drawing three conclusions at the end of our analysis.  Tomorrow we will be working on a stat project in the media center (handout for the project) (sample project).  These will be due on Weds of next week.  NO LATE PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!

9/5/12

Very Busy class today!!  We took a pre test for statistics, worked on some vocab review and did some analysis of our text usage and heart rates.  We looked at 5 number summaries, mean, mode, box plots and histograms.  Notes. Tomorrow we will review our stats and get some additional practice with statistics including what they really even are saying to us.  We will finish up with some interesting facts about fast food that is sure to have you eating at Subway for all meals in the near future!!
