5/1/14 comp lab

Very short class time today because we are going down to the football field to "be nice".  It will be pretty cool to see the pictures of everyone from the helicopter!!  So in our little time we are down here in prep for our exam coming up in just over a week we will be going to the following links and doing ten problems from each section

Mr. Zurek has your exam review.  I will post it here tomorrow with an answer key.  We are going to be taking our exam very soon so we need to start reviewing now!!  Tomorrow we will be doing more review again.  Later this week we will take the last of our notes for the WHOLE year...hard to believe!!

3/19/14 factoring quadratics

watch the three videos and write down the three examples.  Ask the teacher to pause the video if you need to in order to get all the examples copied down.  Then do the practice problems on the handout.  The first ones you just need to set equal to zero and solve, then you will need to factor :)

Friday 3/7/14

Today we are finishing up our trig scavenger hunts.  You should be done with your measurements by now.  If not you need to finish in the first 15 minutes of class.  Then you are to use the law of sines or sohcahtoa to solve for the missing information needed.  Next you are going to write a paragraph/paper see below, finally you are to go to accelerated math and do your assigned problems.  when you get done on AM see Mr. Zurek or Miss Rumsey to update your assignment.

Problem Solving Paper:
You are to carefully examine and critique the work you did on the trig scavenger hunt.  Which problem answers make sense?  Which don't?  What do you think you did wrong if you don't have a realistic answer?  What could you have done differently on this assignment?  How would you have changed your work to be more efficient?  What did you like most about this assignment?  Least?  What is one thing you learned either about math or about yourself?  Answer the above questions in a paragraph format with an introduction and conclusion.

you have all been given new assignment related to our current unit or the ACT test.  Please take this very seriously.  This is not a time for you to be on any other site...or simply checking all the boxes.  This is for you to learn and get immediate feedback.  If you are not working to the best of your ability Mr. Zurek or I will be assigning worksheet problems and you will be forced to sit alone at a table and due worksheet problems...so choose wisely.  see yesterday's post if you have any questions about where you should be starting.

ACT Prep begins

Today we did a practice test that was in a ACT like format.  It was however only 40 questions.  We also did ACT prep starter questions.  We will continue with a little something each day in order to be as well prepared as possible for our ACT tests in just one month :)  There was no homework today, nor were there any new notes today...even better right??

Projectile Motion Notes-

we took some notes today on projectile motion--throwing, shooting, tossing, dropping objects (notes and worksheets).  We also did the attached worksheets showing solving when you have factors, degrees of functions, and general form.  Here is another example of some notes and a video example if you are still having questions

Friday 1/24--in the media center

Hello, I am at EMU today and Mr. Zurek is across the hall in the office filling in for Mr. Spencer and Mr. Bull.
we are starting with some ACT practice problems.  You are to go to the attached website and complete ALL FIVE sets of practice questions.  website
The answers will pop up as you click on them.  Keep track of how many you get correct.  Do not cheat or just push answers.   You are only hurting yourselves...and there is more work to do when you get done so you might as well do your best, take your time, and see how many you can get right.  Please record your answers and mark if they were correct on a piece of paper to turn in on Monday.  This will count as your ACT prep score for today.
